RECRUITING: Cyclones pick up second JUCO DT of the day

Sunday was a huge recruiting day in Ames – literally.

It got started when 6-foot-5-inch, 320-pound, Merced College defensive tackle Kamilo Tongamoa made his commitment to Iowa State. The day was capped when 6-foot-3-inch, 310-pound, El Camino College defensive tackle Ray Lima made his pledge, a source confirmed to Cyclone Fanatic.

Both players visited Ames over the weekend.

Lima is rated as a three-star prospect by 247 Composite and is the No. 56 JUCO player in their rankings. He also held offers from Oregon, Arizona and a few others.

Iowa State now has four defensive linemen in their class of 2017, two high schoolers and two junior college guys. The two high schoolers, Kansas’ Angel Dominguez and Texas’ Deven Lamp, are defensive ends.

Lima gives the Cyclones 19 commits in their 2017 recruiting class. Iowa State was No. 35, and third in the Big 12, in the 247 team class rankings before Lima’s commitment.

Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic over the next couple days for more on these commitments.
