Three-star forward KeyShawn Feazell told Cyclone Fanatic on Sunday that he enjoyed his weekend visit to Iowa State and on Wednesday he solidified that statement.
The 6-foot-8-inch, 220-pound power forward has committed to Iowa State, a source confirmed to our Chris Williams. He’s the second commit in Iowa State’s 2017 class.
“The way it all fit. They’re losing six seniors so they need guys to come in and play right away,” Feazell told Cyclone Fanatic over the phone on Wednesday. “I saw how much love the fans gave and how big of a family it was.”
The Monticello, Miss. native is rated as a three-star recruit by Scout. He’s ranked as the No. 21 power forward in the country and fourth-best in the South. He’s the top power forward in Mississippi.
Feazell projects as a low post presence in the Big 12. He brings a good amount of athleticism inside a big, long frame that allows him to be dominant in the paint at the high school level. He also shows a smooth shot that can hit from the outside.
“Stretch four and sometimes a three,” Feazell said when asked to describe his game. “Coach Prohm compared me to Georges Niang.”
Feazell, who also held offers from Baylor, Mississippi State and handful of others, said he’s watched quite a bit of Iowa State during the past several years and that Niang’s game had always been fun to watch.
He mentioned ball-handling as the piece of his game that will likely need the most refining before getting to the college level.
Feazell joins Wisconsin forward Terrence Lewis as a commit in Iowa State’s class. They both have committed during the month of August.
Iowa State is scheduled to get an official visit from Texas combo guard Darius McNeill next weekend starting on Sept. 2.
