Pair of high-profile forwards set to visit ISU this weekend

A pair of high-profile recruits will be in Ames this weekend to take in visits to the Iowa State men’s basketball program. 2017 power forward KeyShawn Feazell will take an official visit, while 2018 forward Isiah Kelly goes on an unofficial.

KeyShawn Feazell

The 6-foot-9-inch, 225-pound, power forward is rated as a four-star prospect by Scout. He’s the No. 16 power forward in the country, the third-best in the south and No. 1 in Mississippi.

The Monticello, Miss., native also holds offers from Baylor, Alabama, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh and a handful of others. He’s a big-body with a great deal of athleticism that makes him a load to handle in the paint.

He has good rebounding instincts that help make him an above average offensive glass eater. He also has a very smooth shot that allows him to step outside and hit shots from behind the arc.

Iowa State is currently his only scheduled official visit.

Isaiah Kelly

The 6-foot-7-inch, 205-pound, four-star forward is rated as a three-star prospect by 247 Composite. He’s the No. 137 prospect nationally, according to the Composite, but 247 lists him as a four-star at No. 80.

The Hephzibah, Ga., native also holds offers from Wisconsin, Memphis, Xavier, Cincinnati and Vanderbilt. His 247 page also lists interest from Kansas, Auburn, Marquette and handful of others.

He attended a pair of camps at Wisconsin, so he’s been on their campus multiple times. This will be his first trip to Ames.

Jared Stansbury

Jared a native of Clarinda, Iowa, started as the Cyclone Fanatic intern in August 2013, primarily working as a videographer until starting on the women’s basketball beat prior to the 2014-15 season. Upon earning his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State in May 2016, Jared was hired as the site’s full-time staff writer, taking over as the primary day-to-day reporter on football and men’s basketball. He was elevated to the position of managing editor in January 2020. He is a regular contributor on 1460 KXNO in Des Moines and makes regular guest appearances on radio stations across the Midwest. Jared resides in Ankeny with his four-year-old puggle, Lolo.
