Cyclone Fanatic is counting down the days until Iowa State’s season opener against Northern Iowa by bringing you a stat, former Cyclone moment or any other random tidbits every morning to help countdown the days.
Iowa State enters the 2016 football season with 513 wins in the program’s history, which ranks 85th all-time at the FBS level. Some notable Power 5 programs surrounding the Cyclones are Kansas State (509), Louisville (495), Duke (492) and Indiana (468).
It might also be worth noting that the Cyclones have played four more seasons than their Farmagedon brothers, but ISU does have a higher all-time winning percentage.
Iowa State’s won 45.1 percent of its games in 124 years of football, while the Wildcats have won 44.9 percent in 120 years.
The Cyclones have won 32.4 percent of their games since 1995. The most successful several year era in Cyclones history came between 1902 and 1906 when the Cyclones won 77.7 percent of their 47 games.
Probably safe to say that reaching win No. 519 (a.k.a. six wins) in 2016 could make people pretty happy.
