There hasn’t been any shortage of setbacks during Hallice Cooke‘s college basketball career. First, he battled hip injuries that forced him to have double-hip surgery during his redshirt season at Iowa State.
Last season, he dealt with numerous issues that kept him off the floor, including a one-game suspension early in conference play. That led to him leaving Iowa State for Nevada as a transfer during the offseason.
On Friday, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reported that Cooke’s college career would be cut short due to an undisclosed heart issue.

Cooke solidified himself as one of the top freshmen in the country when he averaged 8.2 points per game and 45.6 percent from behind-the-arc in 2013-14 at Oregon State.
He left the Beavers following that season and was one of the final roster additions of the Fred Hoiberg era at Iowa State.
He played in 32 games this past year for the Cyclones scoring 2.6 points per game and shooting 36.5 percent from 3-point range. His best game came against Arkansas-Pine Bluff when scored 11 points and knocked down three 3-pointers.
The Union City, N.J., native will stay with the Wolfpack as a student assistant for the 2016-17 season.
