Cyclone Fanatic is counting down the days until Iowa State’s season opener against Northern Iowa by bringing you a stat, former Cyclone moment or any other random tidbits every morning to help countdown the days.
Few Iowa State football players could be primed for a bigger jump in production in 2016 than senior wide receiver Dondre Daley.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 187-pound, Tarpon Springs, Fla., native is expected to step into a role as one of Iowa State’s top pass catchers after the receiving corp was hit hard by attrition and graduation. Last season, Daley caught 24 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games.
His first touchdown and longest catch of the year came in the season opener against UNI when he snagged a 36-yard pass from Sam Richardson. He finished the season fifth on the team in receptions and receiving yards.
Daley has shown flashes over the last two seasons of having big play ability, including the touchdown catch against UNI.
If he’s able to bring that to the table consistently in 2016, Iowa State’s offense will be better off for it.
