Most people thought the National Signing Day surprises were over when three-star running back David Montgomery announced his commitment to Iowa State.
But Matt Campbell and his staff had something else up their sleeves.
Three-star defensive end Jerrion Nelson signed with the Cyclones Wednesday morning turning down offers from 11 other schools including Iowa, Syracuse and Purdue. Nelson never took an official visit to Ames.
The Columbia, Mo. native is rated as the No. 74 strong-side defensive end and No. 15 player from Missouri in the class.
