RECRUITING: JUCO shot blocker visits Ames, still seeking offer

The top shot blocker in junior college basketball unofficially visited Iowa State last weekend and as of now, he still stands without an offer.

However, Iowa Western Community College big man Thik Bol certainly hopes that one will soon come his way. 

Bol, a 6-foot-8 forward, currently has offers from Wichita State, Murray State, Coastal Carolina and Nevada.

Not Iowa State though, yet. 

But Bol wants one.

On Monday morning, Bol told CycloneFanatic.com that he and Iowa State signee (and his IWCC teammate Donovan Jackson) have talked about playing together at the next level. 

Jackson, who is averaging 15.2 points per game (while shooting 48 percent from 3-point range), signed with Iowa State this fall. 

“I want to wait until after the season so I can take some visits and make a good decision,” Bol said. “Those schools I named are the ones who have offered me.”

Does he see an Iowa State offer coming?

“I’m not sure. I’m not 100 percent sure,” Bol said. “ But Iowa State would definitely be towards the top.”

Bol, who led junior college hoops in shot blocking a year ago, is currently fourth nationally at 4.9 blocks per game to go with his 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds. 

While this whole situation appears to be a bit up in the air at this time, two things seem to be clear. Bol really likes Iowa State and the Cyclones are showing enough interest to indicate that an offer could be coming soon. 

This situation becomes more complex when you take a close look at Iowa State’s scholarship chart for next year, where one doesn’t appear to be open.

However, with Monte Morris’ future unknown and the chance of attrition (which seems to happen every year), that isn’t something to be too concerned about at this time.
