AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior Georges Niang was named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top-25, announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club Wednesday night on ESPNU and ESPN.com.
Niang, a forward from Methuen, Massachusetts, is having a career year for the Cyclones, averaging 19.9 points and 6.7 rebounds. He is shooting 55.3 percent from the floor and 40.3 percent from 3-point range. Niang has seven games this season with 20 or more points, including a pair of 30-point games.
He is coming off a 27-point performance against Texas Tuesday night.
Niang and the 17th-ranked Cyclones are back in action Saturday afternoon at Kansas State. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m., on ESPNU.
