Monte Morris is really good. Realistically, Monte Morris could go pro after his junior season in Ames. Iowa State knows this and the Steve Prohm regime wants to add insurance to the most important position on the floor in its 2016 recruiting class.
Prohm’s staff is hitting the road again today. A source tells Cyclone Fanatic that over the course of the rest of the week, Iowa State will be recruiting in Milwaukee, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Dallas. Call it the Steve Prohm nationwide tour, if you will.
One specific point guard option is ranked by Rivals.com as the 88th best player in 2016, Lima, Ohio point guard Xavier Simpson. He appears to be one of the Prohm staff’s top targets going forward.
Iowa State’s new head coach has recently extended an offer to Simpson, who sources say will officially visit Iowa State in early August. The King James AAU product currently has additional offers from Illinois, Purdue, Xavier and Iowa (among others).
I’m hearing that Iowa State is currently scouring the JUCO ranks for a point guard too.
Considering Prohm’s long-running history of coaching great floor generals, this should come as a surprise to nobody.
