In addition to Xavier Simpson, here are five additional names that I am hearing tied to Iowa State on the July recruiting trail…

Jeriah Horne: He’s a 6-foot-6 power forward out of Kansas City who is considering the Cyclones, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rutgers, Wichita State and Kansas State. Due to proximity, Wichita and Kansas State could be tough to beat out but sources say that Horne will likely officially visit Iowa State in September.

Tyler Cook: Count the Cyclones “in” on this 6-foot-8 power forward, who Rivals ranks as the 76th best prospect in the country. His profile boasts offers from Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Missouri and Virginia along with the Cyclones. Iowa State is hanging in there but my anticipation is that after a strong showing last week on the AAU circuit, this prospect is about to blow up.

THREE JUCO BIGS

Arlando Cook: This 6-foot-9 junior-college power forward claims offers (according to Rivals) from Arkansas, Kansas State, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi, Nebraska among others. Per a source, Iowa State too has offered. Cook unofficially visited Missouri in June. He averaged 11.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last season at Connors State.

Marlon Jones: A 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward who averaged 7.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last year at South Plains College in Texas. Jones, originally a member of the class of 2014, committed to Loyola out of high school but was forced to go the JUCO route because of academics. He was a 3-star prospect coming out of Chicago’s Orr High School.

Emmanuel Malou: He actually played prep school ball at ABCD in Iowa. Malou, who is currently playing in Australia, is a 6-foot-9 prospect who is very familiar with Ames due to the time he spent in the state.

Chris Williams
Chris Williamshttp://www.CycloneFanatic.com
Chris was hired as Cyclone Fanatic’s publisher in the fall of 2009. He is Iowa State football's postgame show host on the Cyclone Radio Network and can be heard daily from 4-7 on Des Moines' top-rated sports station, 1460 KXnO. Williams, a 2007 graduate of Iowa State’s Greenlee School of Journalism, is the former publisher of the old CycloneNation.com (Scout.com). He has also written for the Des Moines Register, the Ames Tribune, CycloneReport.com and is the former sports director at KMA Radio. When Williams isn’t working, you can usually find him doing something outdoors with his wife Ashley, daughter Camryn, and Golden Retriever Dierks. He enjoys golfing, boating, country music, the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Braves and is passionate about any and all motor sports so finding Williams at a local dirt track is very common.
