Julo’s moving up the coaching ranks.

The Fort Dodge Messenger reported Monday that former Iowa State great Julius ("Julo") Michalik has been named the head girls’ basketball coach at Fort Dodge High School.

Michalik previously coached at Tri-Center. He will continue to be a science teacher — but now at Fort Dodge.

MIchalik’s move got us thinking at CF. So we’re revisiting a feature story (linked here) that appeared on the site in November. Some fun stories — from both Julo and Cyclone Coach Fred Hoiberg, who roomed with Michalik and got his fill of "Matlock."
