WBB: Cyclones lose to Cowgirls in Dallas

The Iowa State women (18-12, 9-9 Big 12) nearly fought all the way back from a 20-point deficit but their comeback attempt fell just short in a 67-58 loss to Oklahoma State (20-10, 9-9 Big 12) in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. 

The fifth-seeded Cyclones were led by senior point guard Nikki Moody, who scored 17 points and dished out a team-high seven assists. 

Junior forward Seanna Johnson, 16 points and 12 rebounds, and senior forward Brynn Williamson, 16 points and 11 rebounds, were the other two Cyclones to score in double-figures. 

The Cyclones were able to pull within three with just over a minute to play but the Cowgirls were able to knock down free throws that prevented Iowa State from getting any closer. 

Iowa State shot 31.7 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from behind the three-point arc with eight makes. 

The waiting game now starts for the Cyclones as they must wait over a week until Monday, March 16, to learn of their NCAA Tournament fate.
