Transfer G Hallice Cooke to undergo hip surgery

Transfer guard Hallice Cooke will undergo hip surgery Monday, according to ISU men’s basketball spokesperson Matt Shoultz, who included the news item in his latest "Cyclone Sidebar" posted on Cyclones.com.

Cooke, a 6-3, 190-pound guard who played for Oregon State last season, will have a second hip surgery about a month later, the article noted.

The skilled sophomore was going to sit out the 2014-15 season anyway, per NCAA transfer rules, so decided to take care of ongoing hip issues sooner rather than later.

His recovery period is expected to span six to eight months, according to Shoultz’s article.

Cooke averaged 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists as a freshman for the Beavers.

He drilled 45.6 percent of his 3-point attempts, which ranked second in the Pac-12.
