MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 20 Iowa State women’s basketball team (15-5, 4-5 Big 12) fell to West Virginia (18-3, 7-1 Big 12) by a score of 67-56, Wednesday night. Iowa State struggled shooting the ball, hitting on just 17-60 (8-27 3pt) in the contest. Senior Hallie Christofferson led the Cyclones with 20 points on the evening.

How It Happened:

The Cyclones struggled to generate much on offense in the first half (7-30, 4-12 3FG), as shooting threats Christofferson and Brynn Williamson were sidelined for much of the period with foul trouble. Three pointers kept Iowa State in the game early, but West Virginia closed the half on a 20-4 run, pitting the Cyclones in a 42-21 hole.

The women played better in the second stanza and even cut West Virginia’s lead to eight, behind an 18-6 run that was fueled by seven consecutive points from Kidd Blaskowsky. Ultimately, the deficit would prove to be too much for the Cyclones as the Mountaineers would stretch the lead back to 11 before the final buzzer sounded.
