AMES — We will all know more on Tuesday. That’s when Iowa State’s preseason All-Big 12 forward Melvin Ejim will undergo another knee scan to determine when he will be able to tip off his senior campaign.
“He has really increased his work on the court,” Fred Hoiberg said after Iowa State’s 95-62 season opening win over UNC-Wilmington. “He is running and shooting pretty much every day, doing a lot of work in the pool and on the bike.”
Hoiberg noted that Ejim, who recently hyper-extended his knee, had a meeting with Iowa State’s team doctor before Sunday’s contest.
“He is going to allow him to increase his movement,” Hoiberg said. “He doesn’t have much pain. He has already been fitted for a brace when he comes back but we will know more next week.”
Ideally, Ejim would be able to return for next Sunday’s date with seventh-ranked Michigan. That is a long shot at best but not impossible either.
As Hoiberg said, Tuesday is the day in which more information will be available regarding Ejim’s return.
