A few injury updates from Paul Rhoads’ Monday media session…

On Aaron Wimberly…

Iowa State’s starting running back is currently “day-to-day” because of a hamstring injury that forced him to miss Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma State.

“He just jogged yesterday and did not practice,” Rhoads said. “I would anticipate more of the same tomorrow in practice.”

On Sam Richardson…

Iowa State’s starting quarterback left Saturday’s game with an apparent neck injury after suffering a fairly nasty hit in the second quarter. Backup Grant Rohach finished the game.

“Sam practiced yesterday and did everything that we asked of him,” Rhoads said. “The plan will be to go through the week and make sure that he is 100 percent off of this recent injury and can operate the offense."

On Jarvis West…

Some decent news regarding wide receiver and kick/punt returner Jarvis West, who left Saturday’s game with an MCL injury.

“We do not believe the extent of his MCL injury is as severe as the offensive linemen and Ben Boesen, who have gone through it this season,” Rhoads said. “We are hopeful he will be back a little bit quicker. Time will tell.”

On Luke Knott…

The redshirt freshman linebacker missed Saturday’s game due to a hip/groin injury. He is currently listed as day-to-day, but the injury will likely run its course throughout the rest of the season.

“Rest always helps no matter what the ailment is. He is better,” Rhoads said. “It is something that we will address in the offseason. It might be something as simple as a full month off when we get done. Yeah, it will linger the remainder of the season.”

On Willie Scott…

Iowa State’s starting defensive end did not play against the Cowboys due to disciplinary reasons, but Rhoads said Scott will be back in the lineup vs. Kansas State.
