A former Texas Tech pledge has verbally committed to the Iowa State women’s basketball program’s 2014 recruiting class.

Claire Ricketts, a 6-foot-3 forward out of John Paul II in Dallas, visited Iowa State in June and decided to become a Cyclone earlier this week. Ricketts previously de-committed from Texas Tech when a coaching change was made in Lubbock earlier this year.

As a junior, Ricketts helped lead John Paul II to a TAPPS 5A state championship. Before committing to Texas Tech, she reportedly held offers from Iowa State, Kansas State, Indiana and others. It was after Ricketts’ de-commitment that her recruitment really picked up as Oklahoma State, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Northwestern and Purdue (to name a few) jumped in the mix.

Rickets averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game as a junior.
