Iowa State’s football recruiting efforts are reaching a new height.
On Saturday, West Des Moines Valley offensive lineman Jake Campos made his switch from Missouri to Iowa State.
On Monday evening, Allen Lazard, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound wide receiver out of Urbandale tweeted that he had verbally committed to Iowa State’s program. Lazard, a 2014 prospect, caught 40 passes for 928 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.
According to his profile at Rivals.com, Lazard had offers additional offers from Iowa and Nebraska. However, he’s truly a national prospect that was receiving interest from the likes of LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan and Oregon to name a few.
Lazard, the son of former Iowa State Cyclone Kevin Lazard, will without a doubt be the state of Iowa’s No. 1 recruit in 2014. He’s currently ranked as a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com.
Lazard is the first member of Iowa State’s 2014 recruiting class.
As he did with Campos, Iowa State assistant coach Shane Burnham led Iowa State’s recruitment of Lazard.
