Along with acting Big 12 commissioner Chuck Neinas, Iowa State’s director of athletics Jamie Pollard took center stage in a post-conference meeting press conference in Kansas City on Wednesday evening. Pollard is the Big 12’s athletic directors chairperson. Here’s what went down.

NO EXPANSION: Not yet anyways.

“I don’t think there is anything that has transpired that would make us talk about that anytime in the near future,” said Jamie Pollard. “At the same time I think it’s important to say our heads aren’t buried in the sand.”

Pollard on the Big 12 staying at 10 teams and not having a championship game…

“Our champion can get to the national championship with one less game. That’s a really good position to be in at this point.”

More from Dodd, who writes about how a 12 team Big 12 could change the very landscape of college football.

Oklahoma’s athletic director is "open-minded" when it comes to expanding beyond 10 teams.

PLAYOFF: After yesterday’s press conference, it’s clear that the Big 12 favors a four-team college football playoff, consisting of the top four teams in the country.

How will college football come to these final four teams? The Big 12 wants to see a selection committee in place.

NATE MCCOY: Iowa State golfer Nate McCoy is two rounds into the NCAA Golf Championships in California.

McCoy, a West Des Moines native, fired a 73 on Wednesday. He’s currently +3 on the tournament and tied for 25th out of 156 golfers.
