Cyclone Roundup: 4-27 Edition

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com PublisherFollow Chris on Twitter @ChrisMWilliams

I’ve a fairly short roundup in store for you all today. There isn’t a ton going on in the world of Iowa State athletics but nonetheless, here we go.

UPDATE ON LOCKETT: Former Arizona State guard Trent Lockett is still on his official visit at Iowa State. Lockett will leave Ames today and likely make a decision between Iowa State and Marquette in the coming weeks. However, I’m now hearing that Baylor is jumping in on his recruitment. Baylor recently lost Quincy Miller, who declared for the NBA Draft after saying that he wouldn’t do so immediately after the season. Chances are, it is too little too late for the Bears but who knows?

I’m also hearing that despite reports, Gonzaga still is a long shot to land Lockett for his senior season.

Stay tuned.

UTHOFF: In one more basketball recruiting nugget, I keep hearing Florida mentioned in association with Wisconsin transfer Jarrod Uthoff. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Iowa’s Mr. Basketball in 2011 gave the Gators a visit. Uthoff is scheduled to officially visit Iowa State next week.

DRAFT: As expected, neither Kelechi Osemele or Leonard Johnson were selected in the first round of last night’s NFL Draft. Expectations are that Osemele will be taken in tonight’s second round.

CLICK HERE to view an updated mock draft that has Osemele going 62nd tonight to the San Francisco 49ers.

THIS MOCK DRAFT from NFL.com has Osemele going 54th to the Lions.

Johnson could be selected tonight, but that’s doubtful. He’s being seen as a day three pick by most.
