The Thrope Award, which goes to the nation’s top defensive back every season, released its watch list on Tuesday.
Iowa State cornerback Lenoard Johnson was among the honorees. Johnson, a senior who many publications are listing as a preseason First Team All-Big 12 member, has recorded 175 tackles and five interceptions throughout his career at Iowa State.
Johnson joined fellow Big 12 athletes Jamell Fleming (Oklahoma), Blake Gideon (Texas), Tony Jefferson (Oklahoma), Coryell Judie (Texas A&M) and Markelle Martin (Oklahoma State) on the list.
