English loves visit, puts ISU in top 5

Dallas A. Maceo Smith lineman Keithen English flew under the radar for a while on the college football recruiting scene. That is no longer the case.

English, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive and defensive lineman, originally committed to Memphis a little over two weeks ago. This past weekend, he was in Ames officially visiting Iowa State.

“The coaches told me that they want a defensive tackle who can move like I can, with quick feet,” English told CycloneFanatic.com. “They said that if I commit, it would be a great thing.”

English said that Iowa State offered him on Thursday, Oct. 21 and that the Cyclone coaching staff is recruiting him as a defensive tackle. Since then, Kansas, who Iowa State just beat 28-16 on Saturday, has also jumped into the mix with a scholarship offer.

“I committed to Memphis because that was the best school that I had,” English said. “I’ve always wanted to play in the Big 12 or the SEC.”

English did say that he is still committed to Memphis and that he will visit there before the end of the season, along with Kansas and Utah.

“They might offer me on Tuesday,” said English of the Utes.

English also mention Louisiana Tech in his top five.

According to his profile on MaxPreps.com, English has 29 tackles and two sacks so far in his high school season on the defensive side of the football. He also plays on the offensive line.
