The Big 12 Conference released its 2011 football schedules earlier today. Surprisingly enough, Iowa State actually got a pretty decent draw in my opinion. Below is the complete 2011 Cyclone football schedule, with my thoughts to follow.

Sept. 3 – Northern Iowa
Sept. 10 – Iowa
Sept. 17 – @ UCONN
Oct. 1 – Texas
Oct. 8 – @ Baylor
Oct. 15 – @ Missouri
Oct. 22 – Texas A&M (Homecoming)
Oct. 29 – @ Texas Tech
Nov. 5 – Kansas
Nov. 12 – @ Oklahoma
Nov. 19 – Oklahoma State
Nov. 26 – @ Kansas State

CHRIS’ TAKE

I dont’ see how anybody can really complain about this schedule. Iowa State will avoid road trips to Austin and Norman in the same year. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will travel to Ames in November every other year. Even Texas A&M and Texas Tech will play in Ames during mid to late October. Of course, Texas being Iowa State’s first Big 12 opponent for the foreseeable future isn’t a great thing. BUT, after that, the Cyclones will either travel to or host Baylor and Missouri for the next two games, both of which are very winnable on an annual basis.

It also looks like Iowa State will be playing Kansas State on Thanksgiving weekend from here on out. Time to bring on a Farmageddon trophy?
