Andre Clark down to ISU and TCU

By Chris Williams, CycloneFanatic.com Publisher One of Iowa State’s top basketball recruiting targets this spring has narrowed down his list of potential colleges. Iowa State is on it, along with TCU.

Andre Clark, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound power forward out of John A. Logan Community College told CycloneFanatic.com on Thursday afternoon that after his official visit to Ames that begins tomorrow, he’ll head to TCU next weekend. His college decision could come soon after that.

“Those are really the only two that I am considering right now,” Clark said. “They are the ones that I feel strong about. There are some other schools that are still interested but those are the two that I am really interested in.”

After Justin Hamilton’s departure from the team after the Big 12 Tournament, finding depth in the frontcourt became an immediate concern for Iowa State. That’s something that Clark could definitely provide, considering he had offers from other BCS schools in Penn State and Mississippi. Clark originally signed and played one season with Arkansas back in 2008.

Why Iowa State?

“It seems like a good fit for me,” Clark said. “I could come in and play. I like the consistency of the coaches. They’ve been pretty much been recruiting me all year. By taking this visit, I can get a better feel for the guys on the team and the coaching staff.”

Why TCU?

“Location and they have a real definite need for me. That is a good thing in both situations,” Clark said.

During his sophomore season at John A. Logan, Clark averaged 7.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
